The diversity of Rutgers University had a deep impact
on me personally. For my third solo art exhibit at the BCC gallery,
I wanted to celebrate cultural diversity. "The Standard" was a dedication
to all of my friends, their cultures, and the strong personal connections
that I made with them. The photograph above was taken from an installation
entitled "From Camden to College." The scene depicts me as a bright-eyed
curious kid in awe of my cultural experiences at the university.
Three women represent three distinctive cultures, (Latino, Indian,
and Asian, respectively), and dance traditional cultural dances.
The base of the installation displayed many photographs of my friends
and I showing our true diversity and friendships. |
